Pingtan main beach - Long feng tou: location of 'Pingtan kiteboarding club'. Large bay, with waves. Wind under 20 knots or at a low tide, suitable for beginners to intermediate level kiters.
Advanced riders: Over 20 knots with a mid to high tide can cause over-head waves, and many rows of white water, which can be challenging for beginners. Great wave spot for advanced riders. Larger waves closer to the fort, out at the back. Look out for typhoon swells, can cause 3.5m waves with around a 15 sec period.
Beginner to intermediate riders - If the conditions are too challenging outside the club, head 1 km further north from the main beach, by the temple. No waves, and flatter water with some chop. Pump up at the club and walk up (15 min), or get a tricycle. Can get gusty if wind is too sideshore. Can rest at the temple, and leave bags etc...
